Coach Aaron Ibrao

President Hoʻomau TC, Head Coach - Distance

Coach Aaron is a 10-year US Air Force veteran, father of three, and current Assistant Coach for Mililani High School Track & Field and Cross Country. He brings eight years of coaching experience in track and field and two years in cross country, along with experience coaching youth and adult teams in soccer, volleyball, softball, and baseball.

Since developing a Mid-distance program for Mililani High in 2024, Coach Aaron has led his athletes to a 4x800m state championship and school records in four events. His well-rounded approach to training has also supported athletes in continuing their athletic careers at the collegiate level, often earning student-athlete and academic scholarships.

His coaching philosophy focuses on empowering athletes through mentorship, discipline, and confidence-building. He is passionate about helping athletes develop not only speed, strength, and endurance, but also the resilience and character to succeed in sport and in life.

Coach Dane Matsunaga

Hoʻomau TC Vice President, Coach - Youth Sprints

Coach Dane, father of twins, is a veteran Track & Field and Cross Country coach with 25 years of experience at the high school and middle school levels. He is a certified USATF Level 2 coach. Coach Dane has served as Head Coach for Mililani High School Track & Field for 15 years and during his tenure, has led teams to seven OIA team championships. He has coached state champions in the 100m, 200m, 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay, and high jump. Coach Dane also has 25 years of experience in the Hawaiʻi DOE, working as a School Counselor.

In addition to track and cross country, Coach Dane has coached JV football, JV basketball at Mililani High School, along with youth soccer and youth basketball. Coach Dane is a firm believer that track training is the foundation to developing strong, fast, and well-rounded athletes. He is committed to helping athletes grow across sports and disciplines by building their movement skills, developing adaptability, and encouraging his athletes to focus on their individual improvement rather than comparing themselves to others.

Coach Daneʻs coaching philosophy encourages his athletes to be the best versions of themselves, focusing on daily improvement over immediate results or quick fixes. He also encourages his athletes to embrace their struggles as opportunities to learn and grow. He will always support his athletes through their journey of struggles and accomplishments, letting them know that Coach Dane is always in their corner.

Coach Zach Montayre

Hoʻomau TC Secretary, Coach - High School/Adult Sprints

Coach Zach is a Mililani High School four-year letter winner in track & field and has dedicated himself to the study and development of sprint performance. He is in his fifth year as Assistant Coach for Mililani High School Track & Field, where he coaches the boys sprint group. He is also in his final year as an electrician apprentice in the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard Apprentice Program.

Coach Zachʻs approach to coaching emphasizes explosiveness, technical discipline, initiative in learning, and mental toughness. As a strong mentor and role model, he often runs his workouts alongside his athletes, leading by example and connecting with them through his own competitive mindset.

Coach Zach is committed to holding athletes to a high standard while helping them grow in confidence and accountability. Through his work, coaching, and service to the community, he models the importance of hard work, responsibility, and giving back.

Ryan Mitani

Hoʻomau TC Treasurer, Program Coordinator

Ryan brings 17 years of coaching experience in track and field and cross country. He is currently the Head Coach of the boys program at Mililani High School, where he has guided the team for 10 years, capturing two OIA team championships and a state team runner-up. Ryan has been a Hawaiʻi DOE educator for 10 years. He currently serves as a School Counselor at Mililani Waena Elementary, where he also manages the Junior Police Officer and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports programs.

Ryan is a strong community leader who values lasting relationships and a positive public presence for the club. He brings deep administrative track and field knowledge to Hoʻomau TC and helps support the program development, organization, and long-term sustainability.
